Main application of brown corundum
Brown corundum is characterized by high toughness, high hardness, high temperature resistance, wear resistance, and chemical stability. Its main applications are in the following fields:
I. Abrasives and abrasives Tool Manufacturing
1. Bonded abrasives: Manufacturing resin/ceramic grinding wheels, grinding heads, oilstones, grinding discs, and fine grinding blocks for rough and fine grinding of carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and stainless steel, as well as ultra-precision grinding discs.
2. Coated abrasives: sandpaper, sanding belt, gauze, flap wheels, for grinding and polishing metal hardware.
3. Grinding consumables: grinding paste, polishing wax, polishing liquid, mirror polishing powder; fine polishing of mobile phone covers, glass, and hardware mirrors; special polishing micro powder for picture tube glass.
4. Free grinding: Wet grinding powder, for batch finishing of bearings, shafts, valves, and small stainless steel parts.
II. Dry/Wet Sandblasting Cleaning
1. Rust removal, oxide scale removal, welding slag removal, and burr removal for metal workpieces: aluminum profiles, copper parts, molds, steel structures, and circuit board substrates.
2. Surface matte/brushed/textured finish: glass frosting, denim washed and sandblasted effect, and craft atomized effect.
3. Precision parts cleaning: Cleaning sand from aerospace aluminum parts and precision castings, leaving no residue and preventing rust spots.
III. Investment Casting (Silica Sol/Water Glass Process)
Brown corundum micro powder is used as a top and middle layer coating for stainless steel, alloy steel, and aluminum alloy precision castings. The powder has good suspension properties, resulting in a smooth casting surface with fewer sand holes, and it can replace some white corundum to reduce costs.
IV. Wear-resistant functional fillers
1. Industrial flooring: Wear-resistant aggregate, used in factory floors, highways, airport runways, parking lots, and sports fields to improve resistance to crushing, wear resistance, and anti-slip properties.
2. Friction braking: Automotive brake pads, clutch plates, and special rubber tire fillers improve wear resistance and friction stability.
3. Wear-resistant coatings, epoxy wear-resistant mortar, and wear-resistant plastic fillers.
V. Special Processing Field
1. Waterjet cutting medium: High-pressure water jet cutting of steel, pipes, stone, and composite materials, replacing garnet sand for medium and thick metal cutting.
2. Fine grinding of semiconductors and electronic components; grinding and polishing of carbon fiber and composite materials.
VI. Filter Media and Others
1. Water treatment and industrial fluid filter sand cores, wear-resistant filter layers, corrosion-resistant, high strength and not easily pulverized.
2. Thermal spray powder raw materials for preparing wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant coatings; hardening and wear-resistant additives for ceramic products.
