When it comes to sandblasting, most people probably think of garnet, but here we must mention brown fused alumina. Its history as a sandblasting abrasive is also very long, and it holds a very important position in the sandblasting field, mainly due to the following advantages:

1. Brown fused alumina has a high specific gravity, so it does not generate much dust during blasting. This ensures the health and safety of the technicians and improves visibility.

2. Under certain pressure, brown fused alumina, with its sharp edges and angles, rapidly abrades the surface of the object, achieving excellent cleaning and grinding effects.

3. The unique particle size of brown fused alumina ensures more effective particle impact on the object’s surface. Therefore, using brown fused alumina can greatly reduce abrasive loss, typically saving one-third of conventional abrasive.

4. High surface treatment quality. During the blasting process, brown fused alumina can penetrate surface cavities and pits to reach the exposed metal surface, thereby removing contaminants such as rust and water-soluble salts.

5. Pollution-free: Unlike traditional abrasive materials, brown fused alumina is a pollution-free and non-toxic mineral. It does not contain harmful substances such as free silicon that can cause silicosis, nor does it contain toxic heavy metals or radioactive pollutants.

6. Recyclable: Brown fused alumina is suitable for many applications. Under normal conditions, it can be reused 5 to 10 times. If it still retains its cutting ability afterward, the number of cycles can be even greater.
