Types and raw materials of general grinding wheels
Ordinary abrasive grinding wheels,mainly made of ordinary arbrasives,binder and stoma.Ordinary abrasives include corundum abrasives and silicon carbide abrasives.and corundum abrasives mainly mean white corundum abrasives,brown corundum abrasives and pink corundum abrasives;silicon carbide abrasives includes black silicon carbide abrasives and green silicon carbide abrasives.
The above five abrasives own different physical and chemical characteristics,from which the grinding wheel made from are suitable to different fields.
First,it is white corundum grinding wheel,made from white corundum abrasives.Main chemical of white corundum is Al2O3,over 99.4%，but with lower toughness,then it is easy to break when grinding,then white corundum grinding wheel is usually used for precision grinding of hardened steel, high carbon steel, high speed steel and grinding of thin-walled parts.
Secondly,Brown corundum grinding wheel,made from brown corundum which has Al2O3 about 95%,similar hardness and higher toughness with white corundum ,is applied to grind high tensile strength metals.
Thirdly,Pink corundum grinding wheel is made from pink corundum.pink corundum own more than 97% Al2O3 and 0.2-1.0% Cr2O3. And pink croundum grinding wheels mainly used to grind
Work pieces with high surface quality requirements such as tools, measuring tools, instruments, threads.
Fourthly.It is the black silicon carbide grinding wheel.Black silicon carbide has 98%min SiC,better toughness than green silicon carbide,then black silicon carbide grinding wheel is used for processing of materials with low tensile strength such as glass,stone,cast iron, ceramics, refractories and non-ferrous metals etc.
The last one,green silicon carbide grinding wheel,it is made from green silicon carbide mainly,and green silicon carbide has purity more than 99% SiC, mohs hardness 9.4,sharp grains and good thermal conductivity.Then green silicon carbide grinding wheel mainly is worked specially in processing cemented carbide, titanium alloy and optical glass, honing cylinder liners and fine grinding high-speed steel tools etc.
